Marlborough College were looking to invest in their staff and roll out a refreshed approach to Appraisal Development and design of a framework for Management Development covering Executives, Middle Managers (includes academic HOD’s) and Supervisors – Elliott Training were selected.
Marlborough College had made a decision to implement a more effective Performance Management system. Previously, Support Staff Line Managers
and Heads of Departments had adopted a very relaxed approach to appraisals and handling poor performance, demonstrating reluctance to hold
Two full day workshops were developed, “Managing Performance – The Empowering Appraisal” and “Handling Challenging Conversations
Effectively”. This programme was rolled out to over 150 staff and is continuing to be developed and delivered. As a result of this training confidential
Coaching sessions for individuals and departments were created to resolve any areas of conflict.
These workshops received very positive feedback – managers said that as a result they now had the tools and the confidence to manage
performance more effectively. The College is moving towards consistency of approach.
